“As much as Acharya Mahapragya Ji has written about spirituality, with an equally broad vision he wrote on subjects like philosophy, politics, psychology and economic”

Ram Dhari Singh Dinkar said

“Mahapragya is a Modern Vivekananda. We have not seen Vivekananda, only heard and read about him. But now we can see Vivekananda through his Vision”

Atal Bihari Vajapayee said

“I am a lover of Mahapragya’s literature”.

Shri Bimal Mitra said

“I find new truth in Mahapragya’s work. When I read his books, I feel as if I write for the masses and he writes for me. If only I could have met him in the initial stages of my career, my literature would have had a new path to follow”

Dr. A.L. Basham said

“While meeting Acharya Mahapragya, one gets the thrill of meeting the ‘Spiritual Ideal’ or the ‘Wonder that India was”

Acharya Shri Mahapragya said

“The religion which does not bring about a change in a man’s life, which does not impart peace to him, deserves to be thrown into the river Ganges rather than carried on as burden on one’s shoulders. Rituals or idol worship alone are not enough unless one’s conduct also gets transformed. Religion is not confined only to temples, mosques, or churches, but extends to the man’s day-to-day living as well.”

“I believe in that religion which has moral values at its foundation and spirituality at its peak. I don’t believe in that religion that doesn’t have moral values and spirituality. I accepted that religion which made me physically, mentally, emotionally healthy. Religion is beyond rituals. Religion has the ability to solve our problems if you believe in pure religion.”

Writings and Books

Mahapragya started writing when he was 22 and did not cease until his death. He authored more than 300 books. These works deal with meditation and spirituality, the mind, the human psyche and its traits, the roots of emotions and their manifestation through behaviour,Mantra saadhana, Yoga, Anekantavada, Non-violence, and Jain philosophy and history.

Mahapragya formulated Preksha meditation and wrote extensively on this topic. In these books he described various techniques of meditations and their effects on the psyche, physiology, hormonal influences, the endocrine system, and the nervous system.

Acharya Mahapragya is one of the most erudite and spiritually elevated saints of India. Very few religious heads possess the qualities that Mahapragyaji evinces in his life. There is nothing extraordinary about his appearance- tall frail body, broad forehead with minute lines, shining eyes, innocent visage attired in white sheet of cloth covering the portion above his waist. But those who come into his contact, sit with him for sometime and have a dialogue with him on the problems that beset the world are amazed at his intuitive insights and wisdom, his quest of the self and his exploration into mind beyond mind. Full of humility and with utmost devotion and gratitude to his revered Guru Late Acharya Tulsi, Acharya Mahapragya’s.

Acharya Mahapragya’s personality is truly many-splendoured. He is a meditative yogi, a monk, a thinker, a writer, a researcher, a dedicated disciple of his Guru, a nonviolence marcher, and above all an effulgent soul. His figure bears a striking likeness to that of Gandhi. Verily he continues the legacy of active nonviolence

Mr. Sunder Rajan, an eminent aura specialist commented when he first saw the Acharya in 1994. He said, “Such an aura is rarely possessed by anyone. All the colours in it are pure, radiant and powerful. Your aura is diffused with yellow, blue and green colours. It indicates that you are endowed with intuitive insight and extra – sensory perception. What strikes most in your aura is that there isn’t any tainted and distorted colour in it.”
His outstanding intelligence is a matter of surprise even for the intelligentsia
He is a treasure house of infinite knowledge
He was popularly known as a ‘mobile encyclopaedia’.

As a poet, it is difficult to categorise him into a type. Is he a poet of torrential waves of ecstasy or renunciation, a singer of nature’s beauty or its monstrosity or of the man in clutches of machine, mechanization or machinations nobody can tell.

For Acharya Mahapragya writing:
“Between one full stop and the next sentence, a kingdom can be built”

On Death of Acharya Mahapragya
Dr. Shiv Muni Ji Maharaj, head of the Shwetambar Sthanakwasi Shraman Sangh paid rich tributes to late Acharya Shri Mahapragya, Head of Shwetambar Tera panth sect. He said, the real tribute to him would be only to follow his ideals and philosophy. Devlok Gaman of Shri Mahapragya has been a irreparable loss to the entire Jain society. He expressed his homage to the Acharya on behalf of the entire Vardhman Sthanakwasi Shraman Sangh
