About the Book

The concept of Karma has time and again been calculated and written about by writers not only in India but also across Global. The West has been particularly keen to get in insight into this ancient concept around which the human live usually revolve. However, the Modern World bases its rationality on scientific facts and findings, for believing anything. It is in this book that the authors have given actual scientific explanation behind every karmic action along with actual karmic explanation behind every scientific or biological act. It won’t be over-exaggeration to state that Prof. Muni Mahendra Kumar along with Late Shri J.S. Zaveri through the pages of this book have created a perfect synergy between ancient Philosophical teachings and modern day Scientific revelations. Where on one hand the study of Neuroscience helps us understand how simplest of actions in our human body undergo multiple complex reactions within our brain and consequently within the entire body, on the other hand the study of Karma (or Karman) explains why we do these actions. The book discussed some very interesting subjects like how does brain communicate with the entire body, why need nourishment, sleep, dreams, growth of the human body, learning, love and attachment, aggression and death, all from a scientific as well a karmic point of view.

The  another book as written by Prof. Mahendra Muni is “The Enigma of Universe” which is highly regarded as the best  book written in the field of Cosmology of Modern Science and ancient Jain Philosophy which you will find more relatable once you read this Book and understand the concept of the same.

What is Karman?

“Every action of a living organism- thought, speech and bodily action- is the cause of a transcendental effect; it generates a certain potential psycho-physical force which manifests itself under appropriate conditions in the worldly life in the form of happiness or misery and suffering”

Through the pages of this book, one would be able to create a deeper understanding on the subject, but if I were to write about in few lines after reading this book, I would say that Karman is simply the interest one is supposed to pay on a credit he has enjoyed in the past or it is the dividend one enjoys on the debit he has balance in his karmic cycles. Since each life presupposes the actions of a preceding one, there is no beginning; and the migration of a soul continues without end until the soul reaches the point of Keval Gyana and hence liberation.

Some fascinating points from the Book:

  • Karman is cyclic in nature. So existing karman (karmaphala) becomes the cause of new karman (karmabandha) and this cycle continues until the soul achieves emancipation and thereby attains its purest form (Nirvana).
  • The Jain Doctrine of Karman divides the living organism into five jatis on the basis of number of sense organs possessed by the organism and the organisms with 5 sense organs are further divided into deva, naraka, manusya, triyanca, jalacara, sthalacara and
  • Genetic information is not only hereditary but also significantly influenced by the past karman of the individual member.
  • The existence of the soul distinct from the physical body is not merely a concept but a metaphysical reality.
  • The part of the soul which animates the body and the brain is called a
  • It is true that “Only a live brain can think” and a brain is alive because it is animated by
  • The brain is influenced by information from outside and influences from within.
  • According to Doctrine of Karman, the most vicious bandage is that of belief deluding karman. Its function is to delude the soul and produce nescience.

This book is ideal for:

Anyone who wishes to understand the intrinsic concept of Karman from the perspective of medical science can take a deep dive into the pages of this book.

The Book uses a plethora of medical terms and scientific facts, which might be tough to look at but when one reads through, it shall be easier for the Reader to get an understanding on the same. One should not refrain from reading the book merely for the reasons that scientific terminology has been used and rather go through the book with an empty mind and heart full to gather knowledge.
