About the Book

“When a storm rises in the ocean of your mind, become a Captain of your Ship and control the direction where you sail.”

Sorrow, we have all heard it and there is no doubt that today everyone has its share of sorrows either it be personal and/ or business. Sorrow can be also termed as pain. Sorrow is taken as a negative covenant but, how to make it positive not many are interested in understanding their sorrows/ pain. But, what exactly is sorrow? How do we overcome the same? The answer to this question can be found within oneself. The reason is that 99 out of 100 times, sorrow is caused by our own overthinking and expectations. We tend to put our sorrow at the top and forget the actual meaning of life and how to enjoy the life we are bestowed on as a gift. Most of the time even though we do not have a solution we still stress over the problem and even after having a solution we stress over the outcomes. This is a Cycle of stress which keeps on going and is further converted into sorrow. We take the burden of the sorrow and forget to delete it to lead a peaceful life. Nowadays we all are well acquainted with computers. Even the computer has three modes of deleting the data then why not we as humans who are the creator of this device delete and reset our life? Just as a computer has the option to delete files and put it into a recycle bin and thereafter there is procedure of defragmentation which if done the data in the computer can be taken as permanently deleted. Here, defragmentation to be taken as spirituality and if one knows how spirituality is a part of your progress, the growth is very near. Delete here means acceptance and recycle mean acting post acceptance and moving towards defragmentation.  We all live a delusional life which is filled with sorrow. We all should focus more towards clarity in seeing the world and always see the world without any filter of emotions in our mind. For example when we develop a cataract in our eyes, we see everything in blurred way disabling us to enjoy the beauty of the nature which can be removed by an operation. Similarly, by connecting with spirituality, one can remove the cataract that has developed in their minds and see a whole new world which awaits them and can eliminate the sorrow. We as humans should also be able to dispose of the emotion which troubles us into the Recycle Bin in our minds and Recycle it into positive and happy emotions. The other option is to completely delete it off by just not focusing on it and being involved in various other things which interest us. The last option is to reset ourselves which is not easily achievable but, with the right guidance from a scholar, one can reset themselves to not be affected to that extent.

India has been famous for its culture of Gurukul but under the name of modernization, we have lost the touch with our roots. This book is just like a Guru in Gurukul which one can read and understand through simple words and examples explained by the author. We all are so busy in our life that we have forgotten that just as the body needs food to survive, our soul needs words of wisdom which only can be achieved by interaction with great minds. The food for our soul i.e., the words of wisdom are missing or are forgotten, Thanks to our busy lifestyle and the Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO) a lot of the young generation is affected by it. This book in my opinion is just what one needs in order to overcome all of this and make our mind calm. This book can make one realise that the more one is attached, the more he faces these stressful situations in life. Hence, in order to be detached in an attached manner, and understand what it means one must read this book at least once.

Just as the name suggests, we are attached and stressed over menial things which lead to a disturbed life and create a diversion from our own goals. Just like with great power comes great responsibility, similarly, with huge success, we get a lot of mental illnesses such as Anxiety, Depression etc. This book teaches one to be attached in a detached manner. Through this book, one can understand how to live a peaceful life not only socially but also with their family and find inner peace.

Today’s generation has everything at their fingertips but fails to use that as a privilege instead they stress over little things and are persistently striving for achieving a goal they have set in their minds. After reaching the goal they set, they are not satisfied which ultimately leads to sorrow. This book teaches us to set goals accordingly and be contented. The examples are given in this book just a brilliant way of connecting our reason for stress with real life. This book not only gives you the reason for stress but also provides a way of dealing with it in a subtle way. Reading this book can bring about a positive change in the mind-sets of people and their glasses of seeing the world can be removed, thus enabling them to see all aspects of life. This book is a perfect blend of Reality with Spirituality.

A diagram showing the various Elements of Growth

Excerpts to Remember from this book:

  • Non anger non attachment and non-persistent are three words in their negative form.
  • Non anger can only be attained if human is always calm and conscious about himself.
  • Non attachment is when he ultimately knows that “I am alone and nothing belongs to me “. Hence one must behave or act without attachment whether towards any human object to avoid sorrow.
  • Man should be free from persistence. But sometimes there is a place and time for persistence.
  • Karma is not feasible and without getting rid of Karma Liberation cannot be attained.
  • Foundation of Salvation is “right faith”.
  • Penance (tap) and spiritual practice (sadhana) both play significant role in life in absence of right faith both are worthless.
  • If someone is jealous quarrelsome irritating or egoist; his emotions are by products of attachment and aversion which distort Chitta. (Conscious mind)
  • Emotions are inertia which can take a person anywhere.
  • Only precise goal setting will not guarantee a successful life but along with goal-setting knowledge of right path which can lead you to destination in life is also essential.
  • If there is control of detachment over attachment, control of self-engrossment over entertainment, control of yog consumption than life of a householder can be peaceful to some extent.
  • Imaginary fear without basis in reality causes real-world stress and negative repercussions.
  • In general, in unfavourable situation men become angry but he who is habitually calm and forgiving does not get angry even in unfavourable situations and he accepts situation with cool and happy mind.
  • When he tries to enhance strength and reduce weakness, he makes progress not only spiritually but moves forward in his practical life and progress in a variety of ways.
  • Reasons for making a person distressed
  • The aspiration for sensual desires because of not getting them
  • Is caused by destruction of those things.
  • Body is like a boat; soul is like a sailor and world is an Ocean. People who seek for Liberation can swim through it.
  • Through constant self-suggestions and constant practice “I will succeed in improving it. Gradually I will try to identify other weaknesses one by one”.
  • The process of self-realisation involves practice of realising true self or Supreme self-free from likes (rag) and dislikes (dvesh).
  • Religion is like an island, shelter, path and refugee for living beings who are surveyed in strong waves of life and death.
  • Positive perspective and right effort can lead to one’s destination. The possibility of achieving success becomes high.
  • A man with material is stick perspective find the shelter in wealth, comforts and worldly relations where as a spiritually oriented man keep his soul at nucleus and the matter at circumference level.
  • The more you practice samvar and nirjara are the part of self-purification is enhanced.
  • It is advocated for a man to try to melt his ego through various techniques like practice of Anupreksha (contemplation) and the study of spiritual literature and the like.
  • Knowledge and ignorance both exist in the Soul. Weakness and strength both exist simultaneously. Therefore, many things can stay together.
  • When a person gets disconnected from the false state of the soul and gets connected with the nature the state of being observer is empowered.

About the Book

The Book name itself gives the impression of what the Book is all about. This Book is the best example of how sometimes the words which if read gives spiritual meaning and no doubt the first owner is spiritual but the same can be used for Business Growth. There is no doubt the Personal Growth happens if one has the biggest quality of Self-Restraint and someone who know how to control the Mind as the end it is the Mind who shall not govern you, but you shall govern your Mind. In Business parlance, we say that if there is a System in place or in simple words Business Set-up is ready then the Owner or Directors or investor need not put their daily routine in the office as the set-up is there to ensure all work is in progress and to say process is more appropriate. This Book if read carefully and if one tries to understand the deep meaning there is a message which is applicable for Younger Generation regarding restrains, control, habits, etc and for Business Entrepreneurs. The message in this Book is given in the best simple manner and to send out the clear message, story is anytime the best way to explain and the way it be read it is applicable for personal life as well as Business Life.

In school days or college, what we read is about outer life, outer world and it was all about outer perception given to us and it was imbibed on us that outer is what you have to achieve for success and we were always be given the view that success is happiness and happiness comes with success. Well, contrary to all, the practical life teaches us that if your inner world is in your control and senses are in control, you are bound to win the outer world and if so, then there is no doubt that your handling of business, other business owners, your employees, your employer, your way of doing the work, etc will change and if so, then it can be taken as success and let me share the fact success and happiness are quite separate and one who are happy are always successful and one who are successful are not be taken as all the time happy. The way I see, two ingredients in person decides the success and if so, then happiness, Controlled/Self-Restrain and Controlled Mind.

Time reading this Book

If you can ready slowly and understanding the concepts, it will not take more than 5 hours
